NJ4 Hazard Mitigation Plan

Warning System

The Twp. Of Greenwich Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is in the process of up dating the audible warning/siren system. This new system will replace the approx. 70 year old system which was originally part of the Civil Defense Network.

It is very important for resident’s safety that in case of emergency you know what action to take. The new system is not only a siren but can broadcast voice messages advising and directing you for the correct action to take. This warning system will be used for both natural and man made emergencies. Warnings will be issued for tornado warnings, sheltering in place and evacuation as some examples. Periodic testing of the system will be made and residents will be advised prior to those tests.

It is important to note that this project was funded by a cooperative effort between the township government and local industry. Those industries such as Air Products, EM Chemicals, ExxonMobil, GEO Chemical & Valero Refinery were the sponsors of the program. The Gibbstown-Paulsboro/ Community Alliance Panel where the OEM, council members and industry are participating members, was the catalysis for bring this cooperative effort together.

If you have any questions please contact the Municipal Building and leave a message for the Office of Emergency Management. Personnel from the OEM will contact you to assist you with your questions.
