A Word from the Mayor:
Dupont Repauno Site Deal Is Finalized
Bipartisanship to continue into the redevelopment phase

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP – New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney joined Greenwich Township Mayor George W. Shivery, Jr. earlier today to announce that DuPont executives have informed them the sale of the DuPont Repauno site has been finalized.

“I sincerely thank Senate President Sweeney for being a friend and a partner throughout this process. The Senator and I, putting all politics aside, have worked together toward this common goal for years,” Mayor George Shivery said.

According to published reports, Mayor Shivery and State Senate President Sweeney have been working together since at least 2008 to get this deal done and move forward with creating new jobs at the site.

“This is great news for Greenwich Township and our neighbors,” Shivery explained. “We’re talking about the entire property, not just 280 of 1,700 acres as previously reported. We’re looking at a possible port and business complex and since we have already designated the entire property a redevelopment zone, new jobs and tax ratables will follow as we enter the redevelopment phase.”

“Seeing this deal through to completion shows what can happen when elected officials set aside their political differences to work together for a common goal,” Shivery said. “Senate President Sweeney has been a terrific partner and friend throughout this process and I look forward to continuing to work with him and his office throughout the redevelopment phase of this project.”
